How can I tell if i am making gains?
I have been working out for 6 months, but i am very knowledgable about bodybuilding. I understand you can plateua with certain exercises after a period of time. My porblem is I am trying to gain mass, but i think i might have plateaued all the major mass exercises. even if im not sore anymore, mabye the exercises MIGHT still be wokring. HOW CAN I TELL I’VE MADE GAINS?
Chosen Answer:
Hi.
You’ll know if you’re making gains or not, because it’ll be obvious when you’re looking in the mirror.
If you aren’t noticing any muscular gains after 6 months, then you should truly consider doing something completely different, or approach your routines with new techniques.

Will bodybuilding make me stronger For Competitive martial arts?
I power train. I do Exercise like
Chin Ups,
Bench pres,
Shoulder press,
Bent over rows,
Power cleans,
Squats
good mornings
Bridge (core)
Russian twist (core)
Both with bar and bells
will isolation muscle make me stronger. Like Flyes, biceps curls, ETC.
Chosen Answer:
most of those workouts will help you throw one hell of a hard punch, but only if you know how to box. weight lifting is good but you’d really need to have a good amount of cardio endurance and some form of martial arts training to become competitive. my advice would be find some place where you can train in wrestling, jujitsu, boxing, etc. and work with a coach or trainer who can tell you what exercises would benefit you the most.

Can I find the exercises that professional MMA fighters and martial artists do on the internet (read below)?
I asked a question previously regarding whether the exercises professional fighters do are a secret and people said no but they cannot be found on the internet, only basics can, well I’ve found a lot on the internet, things like Plyometrics, weight training for maximal strenght, explosive strenght exercises etc…. from sites like these:
http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbmainsports.htm
So are the exercises on these sites the basics too, or was the previous answer which said “they can’t be found on the internet” wrong?
If these are the basics then just a brief description of the more advanced/complex exercises that the professional fighters do.
Thanks.
Chosen Answer:
Its always been a difficult thing for me to find as well so what I had did was go on youtube and look up fighters doing workouts. then see what they are called and if i could do them,

Can you give me some advice on my gym schedule ?
I only have access to the gym from monday to thursday (from friday to sunday I’m in a different town, which unfortunately doesn’t have one). I heard that the optimal number of bodybuilding sessions per week is 3-4, but I don’t know if it’s ok if I do all four sessions in consecutive days and then take 3 days break. How do you think I should build my schedule ? Should I also do some exercises at home during the weekend ? What exercises would you recommend ?
Chosen Answer:
I suggest you conduct your gym sessions on tuesday, wednesday and thursday. And when you in the other town, train on saturday and sunday. Because it is not okay to do all four sessions in consecutive days. At home, do resistance exercise using your bodyweight if you have no access to any dumb-bell or equipment.

Extremely high metabolism bodybuilding?
I have a very very high metabolism, I workout everyother day on a bowflex ultimate doing the most advanced exercises in the book and others with dumbells. But I never see gains because I have a extremely metabolism and when im soar from working out I could eat nonstop and never get full(seriously), plus i have a sensitive stomach so if i eat greasy meats or fry some eggs( where the proteins at) i get diahrea, its gross but true. And even when i do see some gains, If i dont workout the next night i lose it all! Seriously im 6’3 and 165lbs. I’m pretty sure I’ve worked out more than most bodybuilders but i look like a toothpick. Is there anybody else that has this trouble? Please give me some suggestions?
Chosen Answer:
what you should try is buying protein powders and protein bars.
you should take a protein shake thirty minutes before working out and a protein bars after finishing a complete workout.
protein takes like thirty to an hour to take effect so by the time you start working out the protein is going threw your body feeding your muscles. and once you finished your workout the bars protein will finish feeding your muscles since the human body is still pumped for about half hour after a workout.

Exercises?
Does anyone know a good website where you can look up good exercises for ‘problem areas’? BESIDES bodybuilding.com?
Geez, ok I know you cannot spot reduce….I mean with strength training. Muscle growth….toning…you know? Jesus do people really believe in spot reduction to the point where people still have to explain about this?
Chosen Answer:
Sorry to break this to you but……..there is no such thing for exercises that reduce only your trouble areas. There are however two things that you can do to reduce those areas. Lower your daily calorie intake and cardio. Everyone has different problem areas, mine were my hips and thighs. And guess what? They were the last parts to shrink down as I lost weight. I know….it sucks. Sorry.

How much would be Ronnie Coleman’s chest measurement ?
I guess 59 / 60 ” !! I am really passionate about professional bodybuilding, though I myself have done bodybuilding on an amateur level but I do love exercises. My chest is 42″ + which is not really small but how much would that be of a giant pro bodybuilder like Ronnie Coleman ? I ve seen few bodybuilders with that much mass & definition, though my all time favourite would be the gr8 Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Chosen Answer:
Current stats for Ronnie Coleman are:
Height: 180 cm (5 foot 11 inches)
Weight: 135 kg (296 lbs) (contest) / 147.5 kg (325 lbs) (off-season)
Arms: 61 cm (24″)
Chest: 147 cm (58″)
Thighs: 86 cm (34″)

What is a healthy body fat percentage?
I’m 13 years old and have always been a bit overweight. I’ve been playing soccer for years, and I’ve decided I want to get more serious about it. So I’ve been running and doing ab exercises as well as lifting weights, (not too heavy, I’m not bodybuilding) to lose weight and gain some muscle. At school they recently did a height/weight/body fat % test on everyone and mine was 22%. I’d like to know if that’s healthy for someone my age.
