Diet help/bodybuilding?
Ok, so i need a diet routine to help me get this fat off. ive been doing alot of reading and studying and know you are supposed to eat 5 small snacks throughout the day and need help doing that and what to eat, low in carbs and fats, high in protein right? so this is what i came up with…. morning 6am – oatmeal. 10 am, granola bar, 3 pm, cereal, 6pm, protein shakes… what do you think? lots of breads and stuff, i workout between 4-6. so the protien shake is for my muscles. thanks. please post any other foods or suggestions.
Ok so then in the morning, a banna or apple, then some kind of veggie (carrots) then some cereal, protein shake?
Chosen Answer:
You need to go lower on the carbs and higher on the protein. Limit carbs to your first 2 meals of the day. For the rest of the meals eat protein – whey powder shake, cottage cheese, Fage yogert, Chicken breast, tuna fish, salmon. Cereal should be Kashi Go Lean (13g protein per serving). Lose the granola bar, the bread and other starchy foods (if you must have bread try Arnold Carb Counting – 9g carbs and 5g protein per slice). Needless to say no junk food or sweets. You should be getting 0.8 g of protein per pound of bodyweight per day. Do some moderately intense cardio exercise every day. Go to bed an hour earlier and get up an hour earlier and go jogging. Each person’s body is the result of their particular genetic physiology combined with their particular lifestyle. You can’t alter your physiology so you must change your lifestyle. If you want to be lean, you must live the lifestyle of a lean person.

bodybuilding question!! should i lose weight first or just start diet and build muscle??
i am 5’10 190 pounds, i want to get really strong and cut, should i lose some weight first so i will be more defined and then build muscle or go right to it with good diet, weightlifting and some cardio?? and i am trying to get big
Chosen Answer:
I’d start by gaining some muscle first and then look at losing body fat. This will ensure you will maintain your muscle mass better when losing body fat as well as helping to burn more calories. HTH : )

Hardgainer diet question/ bodybuilding?
I posted this in the diet section but there’s so many posts from the fat asses looking for a miracle weight loss solution that my question got neglected. I’m 23 years old and 140lbs. I was a long distance runner but now my perspective has changed and I want to shed this 16-year-old-looking body and put on some muscle. My goal is 35lbs. in 6 months, which I don’t think is too far fetched. I’m in the gym 4 days and week with <1hr of heavy lifting (heavy being relative to my chicken bone frame of course) I was told this 4 day/wk plan is best because hardgainers need more time to recover..is this true? My workout consists of mostly bench, squat, deadlift and clean. Suggestions? I'm eating 4,000+ calories a day (I set a timer to go off every 2 hours and force myself to eat something) but I'm starting to go broke over this **** and need some diet advice. So I'll give you a sample of what a typical day looks like for me and if you can tell me the same nutrients I can get in cheaper foods that would be great. The problem is I am a bit of a picky eater, I like chicken, I can find it cheap and eat LOTS of it...if there's a risk in eating so much daily please let me know that as well. I know tuna has lots of the nutrients I need but I can't stomach it, if you know a way to mask it or maybe even some blended crap that I can drink in 10 seconds I'd be up for that too. Thanks for any help.
Breakfast: 3 eggs, 2 slices of bread, 1 slice of cheese, 2 slices bacon, 8oz O/J, fruit
Snack: 2 slices of french toast, carrots
Lunch: large chicken breast, 2 slices bacon, 1 slice of cheese, 2 slices bread, fruit, crackers
Snack: banana, granola bar, pudding
Snack: granola bar, cheeseburger
Dinner: large chicken breast, rice, broccoli,
Snack: medium pizza
Chosen Answer:
First thing’s first if you have to get rid of the junk food. French toast, pizza, bacon, granola bars, pudding? They all have to go. Having a cheat day where you eat what you want is fine, but the rest of the week has to be whole, nutritious foods. Instead of granola, eat oatmeal, instead of bacon and pizza, make smoothies using low fat yogurt, protein powder, peanut butter and a couple of ice cubes.
Now it’s great you have the timer going. One thing a lot of skinny guys do is say “I eat a lot” but it turns out they’re not eating nearly enough calories so you have that part down. You just need to clean it up.
The 4 days a week is great too. The normal 5-7 day body building routine won’t work for skinnier guys like yourself because you’ll just exhaust your muscles and they won’t grow back larger.
So really you’re not doing bad. Keep eating the same amount of calories, but get cleaner nutrients. When you lift, lift just one exercise per muscle group, do only 3-5 sets and only do a max of 10 reps. So for instance you do the bench: 160×10 160×10 165×10 165×10. That last set of 165 you’re using every last bit of muscle fiber in your chest to get the weight up. After that, your chest is done, you’ve already put enough stress on it to spark new growth. Any more exercises will only tire out your muscles, burn excess calories and hinder growth.

What is the best software for gym bodybuilding and diet ?
Hi !
I am looking for a program that I can choose exercise and it will display a nice piture of the movement and explain me what muscle it’s working.
I am also looking for a Software that I can put what I eat in the day and it will tell me how much calories I took, and diet program and stuff like that.
It can be 2 software or only 1 that combine both.
But the most important is the software to MAKE a program that include picture of the exercise and reps and weight. There is too much software available, I want to know the best. Thanks
Chosen Answer:
I would try a fitness video.
They are GREAT for motivation.
Also invest in a mat.
It hurts otherwise.

Cutting Phase Diet for Bodybuilding…. Money Questions?
i wil be entering my FIRST competition next may.
right now i am just focused on building a lot of muscle mass without gaining fat.
but next year, probably 12-16 weeks before my competition is when i plan to start the cutting phase of my diet. im curious about food costs. how much do you think you think i will spend every month on my diet (including supplements). I fear that cutting fat will also cut my $$$ and food cost will prevent me from entering my competition?
Chosen Answer:
You may find that you don’t have to take that 12 week time frame to work on the cutting phase. For my last show I only cut the last three weeks. All I did was switch to a little more chicken, brown rice and spinach and went to 96% lean beef instead of the 80% I was on. All this always includes lots of water, but you likely already know that. I even included center cut lean pork in the cutting phase. I just cut back on the portion size and included a third protein shake as a meal. I was at 185 with 11% to start and in just 9 weeks went to 170 at 5%. I was more worried about hitting the poses correctly and working on my 2 minute free style routine. I’ve done five shows and I can tell you, as you probably already know ours is a strict routine to follow for any length of time. I think its amazing to see how easy it is to have so much control of the body. I preach this all the time in the diet and fitness section, but lately it seems its been taken over by 11 to 14 year old’s who will not be able to follow a diet as strict and the one we do. Plus their workouts are not even close to the intensity level we train at. I can say that the overall diet format for a competitor is more expensive, but it just because of the sheer volume of good fresh food we have to stay with. I didn’t really notice a difference in what I bought during the cutting phase. I was spending about 0 a month just for me. Now I’m just maintaining and my food bill is in the 0 a month range. Don’t let anything stop you from doing the show. Even if you think you’re not ready do it anyway. Quiz the judges afterwords and they will tell you what they think you need to improve on. They just love to pick us apart, but it’s a learning process. I did better with each show because of that and often times the same judges will be there and they’ve seen you before so they are looking for those changes. Stay with it for a while. I did if just to have fun, but learned a lot in the process.

Bodybuilding w/ gluten free diet?
I have a disease called chronic urticaria. It’s where I’m allergic to gluten, a sugar found in wheats, ryes, barley, oats (in other words bread in general). I get full body hives constantly. I found out about the gluten and went on a gluten-free diet last week- haven’t taken allergy meds for reactions since.
But I also want to get into bodybuilding :/. And I can already tell it’s an issue- I’m not getting nearly as much food as usual since at school it seems all foods have some sort of bread/gluten product- actually today I literally ate nothing, as there was nothing to buy for lunch that didn’t contain it. My calorie intake has probably halved by now. I get lots of protein at home (my family loves meats), but even here my diet is severely restricted.
Any advice on how to get the protein and calories I need to gain?
Chosen Answer:
I’m sure you will be surprised to learn that fresh baby spinach is 40% protein. After I workout, I will take two or 3 cups of spinach with a little honey and water. Blend it all up, and I have a court of the healthiest protein on the planet and it’s not too expensive.
